There is development branch in BZR called "lessFreezing". One of 
features is watchdog, a different thread which cancels NVDA system calls 
when core is not responsible ~200 ms. We can restart nvda from this 
watchdog, when canceling system calls doesn't help to reanimate core. I 
recommend you open appropriate ticket and put your thoughs there.
